Electroplated finishes are surface treatments that use the electrochemical deposition of metals or alloys to change a surface’s properties. Depending on the base material and the treatment selected, they can improve a product’s appearance, corrosion resistance, and specific technical, optical and electrical properties.

Galvanic finishing is often the final stage of a production cycle and plays a key role in the quality, functionality and aesthetic value of the finished product.

How electroplating works

Electroplating consists of two main stages.

1. Surface preparation: washing and degreasing

Before treatment, the surface is washed and degreased to remove dirt, grease and impurities that could compromise coating adhesion and uniformity. ARgentAR uses specialist products and equipment to prepare parts for the next stage of processing.

2. Application of the electroplated finish

After preparation, the parts are placed on special racks and immersed in galvanic solutions selected according to the material and the requested finish. The process deposits a metal layer on the surface, based on the treatment specifications and the customer’s requirements.
